Many people have asked why they need to have their Mini Splits cleaned when they have Self Clean or Auto Clean options. The terms Self or Auto Clean are somewhat misleading. Most people assume that some type of active mechanical cleaning system is cleaning and sanitizing their Mini Split. In actual fact all that happens is the fan will run for a period of time, generally 30 minutes after operating, to try to dry the coil which is covered by condensation after use. No cleaning takes place.
